Started at 4:56 pm. Started out feeling really good. Fast time for me up Amph, and that felt reasonably comfortable. Started fading on upper Saddle Rock, though (another stitch), and continued to slow on Greenman until the final few minutes, where I managed a bit of a kick. The legs did not want to work on the descent.
Took about 10 days off due to shin splints (?). Wasn't really painful, but figured I'd take the time off now to let it heal. Didn't seem like it got much better with the time off, though. Ran in calf sleeves today for the first time, but not sure if that will help with this or not. Probably just need to be more diligent with some exercises for the shin.

Started at 6:40 am. With intel from GZ that the new Green Bear was open, I wanted to check it out. Turns out just the upper section was opened this week. Nice and smooth for running, but I'm going to miss the steeper trail.

Green (roundtrip PR)

Started at 6:57 am. Got a late start as I was tired and lazy getting out of the house. Body was a bit creaky this morning, but I wanted to put in a hard effort. So, I started working hard from the outset. Saw a fast split at the top of Amph but already felt like I was slowing. Whenever I felt I should be switching to a run, I really struggled to do so. The legs didn't like the running cadence, so I mostly hiked. Got a stitch below the Greenman junction so tried to recover on the "flat" section to Greenman Spring (saw Piper through here).
On Greenman, started thinking about turning for a fast roundtrip time, but as I neared the summit, I just wanted to sit and recover. After doing so for about 30 seconds, I got the urge to get up and get moving down. I'd passed another runner descending a bit below the summit, so I had someone to chase. I caught the runner near the NE Ridge junction, but I wasn't pushing very hard on this upper part of Greenman. Below Greenman Spring (saw Patrick here), I did pick up the effort, and I started hurting. Checked the watch a few times as I descended and felt like I should be well under an hour. Couldn't recall what my roundtrip PR was, so I just kept working hard. 19:10 descent is one of my faster non-snow descent times (though 49 seconds off my non-snow PR).
Chatted with Roger L a bit back at the trailhead.
Roundtrip PR by 42 seconds. Previous PR was 58:59 on 7/19/11 (which included a summit break similar to today).
