From South Mesa TH, Mesa, Towhee, Shadow, South Boulder; down the same.
Started at 6:16 am. Worked pretty hard from the start and was feeling pretty good. Looks like I really faded above the saddle, but I think that's more of a reflection of how fast I went above the saddle on my PR last year. Was pretty happy with my ascent time.
On the way up, I was thinking about trying to get the round trip in under 1:30, which I don't think I've ever done. At the top, I took a break as I was hurting, and I was thinking that I wouldn't hammer the down. But once I started down, I was feeling OK and started pushing it. Worked pretty hard to the saddle and down Shadow. Pushed pretty hard getting down to Towhee. Turning onto Towhee, I was thinking I didn't have a chance at 1:30, and I think I slowed a bit on upper Towhee as a result. But lower down, the clock seemed to be moving slower than expected. I worked pretty hard for the last several minutes and ended up closer to 1:30 than I thought I was going to be. Wish I'd taken a split at the top of Towhee so I'd know what to expect if I try this again.
Pretty satisfying run overall.
